BACK IN BOSTON DROPPIN' SCIENCE ON THE -950
Currently there is a butt load of chatter taking place in a couple of forums about comments left by Mr. Matt Cutts of Google check it out here Google Attacked Over Webmaster Relations.
Matt responded to some question left by a comment on his blizzog. Let me pull out Matt was like:
Adam's already doing a great job on that thread, but it is frustrating that I don't have a chance to do everything I'd like to do. If I've only got limited time, I could spend that discussing something or a forum, or try to write on a new topic (malware, Stephen Colbert, robots.txt crawl-delay and why we don't support it).annej, regarding the -950 thing, I'd watch this video I made: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4814548594071648913#1m42s
Starting around 1:42 into the video is where I talk about this.
Then a guy named Mark was like wassup with my shit why won't it rank and Matt was like: (slang added by me for your reading pleasure)
Mark, yo Dawg for real, I wish I could shoot the shit with every punk ass webmaster and drop science, Nah on second thought F you.
That's whats up with my bitches down at the webmaster help group -- they can hook yo up.Like this chump I just busted in April who had a bunch of links at the bottom of his porn blog that was like "Online Loan | Stinky Pete's Hotels | Xbox Mod Chip | Home Loan | Mobile Phones " or "Bad Credit Mortgages | Afvallen | Problem Remortgage | Mortgage | Myspace Layouts". and get this they was all linking to spammy hoods or smack ass sites, you know that's is a corney look dawg. So my possee might peep your site and be like "Snap, you trippin dawg dump that link jawn and beg to the Google Gods Bitch you could start like this "Dear super smart god of the internet and shit, In case this is the shit you caught me out on, I ain't fuckin with that link shit no more I got clean."
The dudes site was reincluded within a day or so, after some appeals.
So what's the dilly with this back and forth, between Google and SEOs?
A WebmasterWorld thread and Google Groups thread discusses it.
Matt's comment, relates the -950 penalty, that so many gaming affiliates were nailed with that I met at CAC, to a video where he explained "over optimization."
From WebmasterWorld
So this algo element has been in place for a year and a half (at the time the video was made - that lines up with reports here) and it's designed to penalize for "over-optimization". I watched this video before but I missed the connection to the -950 that Matt just highlighted.
In the Google Groups thread, a member explains the video in his own words:
-It's an algo update push. -overly seo'd sites -don't listen to what SEO forums say -don't optimize quite as much
Matt should have said don't always listen to SEO Forums, but he did say, don't pay too much attention to them, in the sense of don't obsess over it.
This is what forum discussion is all about.
